EARLY EVENING

The sign of the cross + may be made by all in remembrance of their Baptism.
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

A candle may be lighted.

Let my prayer rise before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Psalm 141:2

Joyous light of glory: of the immortal Father; heavenly, holy, blessed Jesus Christ. We have come to the setting of the sun, and we look to the evening light. We sing to God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: You are worthy of being praised with pure voices forever. O Son of God, O Giver of life: the universe proclaims Your glory.

Psalm and meditation

Lord’s Prayer

Prayers for others and ourselves

Concluding prayer:
Lord Jesus, stay with us, for the evening is at hand and the day is past. Be our constant companion on the way, kindle our hearts, and awaken hope among us, that we may recognize You as You are revealed in the Scriptures and in the breaking of the bread. Grant this for Your name’s sake.

OR

My Heavenly Father, I thank You, through Jesus Christ, your beloved Son, that you have protected me, by your grace. Forgive, I pray, all my sins and the evil I have done. Protect me, by your grace, tonight. I put myself in your care, body and soul and all that I have. Let Your holy angels be with me, so that the evil enemy will not gain power over me. Amen.
Amen.

Let us bless the Lord. Psalm 103:1
Thanks be to God.

The Lord bless us, defend us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life.

and grant us your salvation.
Clothe your ministers with righteousness.

Lord, keep this nation under your care,
and guide us in the way of justice and truth.
Let your way be known upon earth;
your saving health among all nations.

and sustain us with your Holy Spirit.

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.

Midweek Meditation for July 1

Worship Plan for Wednesday, July 1, 2020
Week of Pentecost V
Responsive Prayer: Suffrages

Responsive Prayer
Holy God, holy and mighty, holy and immortal,
have mercy and hear us.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever. Amen.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.*
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen

Show us your mercy, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation.

The Nativity of St. John the Baptist, part II

The order of worship continues with the prayers

The Prayers

The Lord's Prayer (traditional)

The Blessing

Blessings to you all.

The Nativity of St. John the Baptist

Order for worship
June 24, 2020

Greeting

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. (2 Corinthians 13:13)
And also with you.

In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
In the Word was life,
and the life was the light of all people.
The Word became flesh and lived among us,
and we have seen his glory, full of grace and truth.
(John 1)

 Prayer of the Day

Let us pray.
Almighty God, you called John the Baptist to give witness to the coming of your Son and to prepare his way. Grant to your people the wisdom to see your purpose and the openness to hear your will, that we too may witness to Christ’s coming and so prepare his way; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen

First Lesson: Malachi 3:1-4

Psalm: Psalm 141

 1O Lord, I call to you; come | to me quickly;
  hear my voice when I
| cry to you.

2Let my prayer rise before | you as incense,
the lifting up of my hands as the
| evening sacrifice.

3Set a watch before my | mouth, O Lord,
  and guard the door
| of my lips.

4Let not my heart incline to any | evil thing.
Let me not be occupied in wickedness with evildoers, nor eat of
| their sweet foods.

5Let the righteous strike me; their rebukes, as oil upon the head, are not to | be refused.
Yet my prayers are continually against the deeds
| of the wicked.

6Let their rulers be thrown down up- | on the stones,
that they may hear my words, for
| they are sweet.

7Just as one who tills the earth | breaks the rock,
so let their bones be scattered at the mouth
| of the grave.

8But my eyes are turned to | you, Lord God;
in you I take refuge; strip me not
| of my life.

9Guard me from the trap that they have | laid for me
  and from the snares of
| evildoers.

10Let the wicked fall into | their own nets,
  while I a-
| lone pass through.

Gospel: Luke 1:57-67 [68-80]
