The troubled musings of a troubled mind.
I am a husband, father, pastor, greyhound owner, hockey fan, gamer, historian, and dork, so I might blog about all those things or none at all.

Hey Jon,
I was just browsing through the latest issue of 'Model Railroader' to reach our shores - the September issue (yeah, I'm a model railroading nerd) - and on the next to last page there's a neat old b & w pic of the "spud rush (potato harvest) in Kern County near Bakersfield" with an ATSF switch engine and several refrigerated cars that still have ice hatches on their roofs. I guess it's from the 1950s - I thought it was all desert there but I suppose they must have irrigated - and still do?
